The FT’s Jeremy Grant flagged up an interesting development in the CFTC position limit story via a video interview with Adam Sussman, head of research at Tabb Group.
According to the latter the actor Charlie Sheen — or at least someone calling himself Charlie Sheen –submitted in March a meticulously worded comment to the CFTC on the subject of silver market position limits.
The comment, says Sussman, included things like a call for a reduction in contract limits to 1,500 contracts from 5,000 contracts. So it was pretty detailed stuff.
We at FT Alphaville were, of course, curious to see the original. We had a quick dig around the CFTC website — but unfortunately our efforts were to no avail.
The comment is missing.
The best we could find was this old CFTC comment list from a Google cache:
Which we guess means the comment wasn’t from the real Charlie Sheen at all, and has consequently been removed.
We will naturally let you know if we hear otherwise, though.
