Honda recalls cars, Toyota lobbies

Honda said on Wednesday it would recall 437,763 vehicles globally for defective airbags, includes 4,042 cars in Japan, reports Reuters. The automaker said there had been no accidents related to the airbags reported outside the US. The FT meanwhile reports that Toyota has mounted an aggressive but belated US lobbying campaign amid damaging recalls of more than 8m vehicles. The campaign comes ahead of potentially damaging Congressional hearings on defects in some best-selling Toyota vehicles as well as the US government’s response to the issue.
