Paulson feared dollar crisis

Hank Paulson feared a “catastrophic” run on the dollar in the early stages of the financial crisis, the former Treasury secretary has told the FT. “It was a real concern,” Paulson said ahead of Monday’s release of his memoir ‘On the Brink’. But, he added, “everything that could go bad did not go bad. We never had the big dislocation of the dollar.” Also in his memoir, Paulson blames the UK’s FSA watchdog and chancellor Alistair Darling for the collapse of Lehman Brothers in 2008 – see “Weekend catch-up” below.
