Johnson & Johnson said Wednesday it plans to acquire privately held medical-technology company Acclarent for $785m in a deal that will boost J&J’s presence in the ear, nose and throat treatment business, reports the WSJ. J&J said the all-cash deal will lower the company’s adjusted 2010 earnings by about 3 to 4 cents a share.
