We’re recording the second edition of Alphachat later this week, and we’d like to know if you have any questions for our guest.
(To hear the first Alphachat, an interview with Michael Pettis on the Chinese economic model, click here, and subscribe.)
We’ll be having a lengthy chat with Sal Arnuk of Themis Trading, and the topic will be high frequency trading. Arnuk and his partner at Themis, Joe Saluzzi, have been raising issues of fairness and transparency related to HFT for several years now, and they’ve also warned that its proliferation has increased the likelihood of future events similar to last year’s Flash Crash.
To get more information about their arguments, see the Themis web site or watch this 60 Minutes segment for a very broad overview.
We’ll be talking to Arnuk about the history of HFT, the perceived dangers (and why he thinks they outweigh the benefits), recent regulatory issues, and more.
We plan to reserve some time at the end of the chat to relay your questions to Arnuk. You’re welcome and encouraged to ask questions that challenge his perspective, but please make them polite, as always.
