[Something for the weekend] Coming soon to FT AV….

… our first weekly columnist.

From this weekend, Neil Collins, the former City editor of the Daily Telegraph, will be giving AV readers his acerbic take on the markets.

Collins is one of the most experienced financial journalists in the UK. For three decades he has been at the sharp end of financial journalism. During his 19-year tenure at the Daily Telegraph, his column became a must read for anyone remotely interested in the finance.

He’s also trained some of the best financial hacks in the UK including The Guardian’s Nils Pratley, The FT’s Andrew Edgecliff-Johnson, David Wighton of the Times, Simon English of the Evening Standard and some bloke called Paul Murphy, who claims to have founded FT Alphaville.

Collins is currently a non-executive director of two investment trusts – Templeton Emerging Markets and Finsbury Growth & Income Trust. He recently added part-time fund manager of a SIPP portfolio to his long list of interests, which includes a blog. So readers can look forward to some forthright views on the savings markets and some of the products that are pedalled to investors.

So please join us in extending a warm welcome to Neil Collins.
