The lack of progress on US debt ceiling talks over the weekend hasn’t caused a spiral of chaos.
Ten-year Treasury yields were up a few basis point early on Monday. Mohammed El-Erian wrote that the US AAA rating was “extremely vulnerable”.
Gold hit another record, going as high as $1622.49:
At pixel time, the Nikkei seemed to be finding ground at about -0.6 per cent:
The ASX opened down o.41 per cent, before heading to about -0.8%:
The dollar was also down a little against the yen, Swiss franc, and euro.
