Davos time!

The great, the good and the simply pompous of finance have been gathering in Davos, Switzerland for the annual World Economic Forum on Tuesday.

Lucky for us — the great uninvited — the rise in social media means we too can feel part of the buzz and economic hot air conjecture.

The story so far:

The temperature is minus ten degrees celsius with conflicting reports of snow emanating from conference delegates on Twitter.

Travel in Switzerland by train is delightful – much better than in the UK. South West Trains take note.

Nouriel Roubini, Felix Salmon and George Soros have all arrived safely (but flew commercial). Felix has  found the Bloomberg tent.

But Bloomberg’s Margaret Brennan is in Zurich having lost her luggage.

And stuff is so expensive. 34SFR for a sandwich no less.

Richard Quest is wondering what snowmen can teach bankers.

And the Times reports upon the greatest  of all travesties: Bankers attending the conference may have to leave gas-guzzling limousines and SUVs — apparently the traditional mode of transport for any self-respecting banker– at the door.

While FT Alphaville didn’t have the budget to send one of the usual team, we do have the next best thing. Check out contributions from the seasoned regular we’ve recruited here.
