Former Deutsche chief faces charges

State prosecutors in Germany have levelled charges against Rolf Breuer, the former chief executive of Deutsche Bank, marking the  latest phase of a protracted legal battle with Leo Kirch, the media entrepreneur. Breuer has been charged with an attempt to sway the course of previous legal proceedings involving him and Kirch by making untrue statements, but has reportedly denied the charges. The news comes as the bank and Kirch have entered mediation to try to settle their dispute which dates back to 2002.
