Altium Capital has held tentative discussions with overseas investors potentially interested in buying all or part of one of London’s few remaining privately-owned stockbrokers. Seymour Pierce, which has more Aim-listed clients than any other UK broker, is also among those in the sector to have held meetings with foreign investors, although both sets of talks have been only brief as the brokers wished to remain independent. Many City brokers have been subject to takeover speculation in an industry that analysts say is ripe for consolidation.
