Michael Jackson, one of pop’s most successful but controversial figures, has died aged 50 in Los Angeles, reports the FT. His death came on the eve of a sold-out comeback tour, meant to revive a career that began four decades ago when Jackson was a child. His collapse on Thursday, of a reported heart attack, leaves uncertainty about his share of one of the world’s largest music publishing companies, Sony ATV – a 50-50 joint venture with Sony through which Jackson controls rights to the Beatles catalogue and other top artists.
