Barclays Capital outlined its boldest ambition yet, as Bob Diamond, Barclays’ president, announced a plan to displace the likes of Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan from the top slots in investment banking. Diamond told analysts and shareholders at an investor day in New York that Barcap aimed to be the “premier global investment bank over the next couple of years.” He spoke days after sealing the sale of Barclays Global Investors to BlackRock for $13.5bn.
