G8 ministers see crisis easing

G8 finance ministers signalled cautious optimism on the weekend that the worst of the global financial crisis might be over and began discussing “exit strategies” to counter the threat of inflation, reports the FT. Stress tests for banks were also discussed, aides said, but rifts over the issue – with France and Germany resisting calls for more transparency over results – kept an explicit mention of tests out of the final communique (here).
