House subpoenas Fed over BoA-Merrill

The US Federal Reserve was served with a subpoena from a Congressional committee on Tuesday, as lawmakers demanded documents related to Bank of America’s acquisition of Merrill Lynch. The House oversight and government reform committee made the unusual move in efforts to discover whether undue pressure was placed on Ken Lewis, BofA’s chief executive, to complete an agreed deal to buy Merrill last year.
