Compiled by Alpha Magazine, the 2009 top-50 European hedge fund list has just been released.
It’s been a bad year for GLG, which drops from second position to eigth, while Barclays Global Investors moved down from first place last year two notches to be beaten by Man Investments in second place this year, with Brevan Howard coming in at the top.

Other big winners further down the ranks include: Horseman Capital Management of London in 13th (2008: 37th); Dexia Asset Management of Paris in 16th (2008: 28th); Aspect Capital of London in 21st (2008: 32nd); Capula Investment Management of London in 23rd (2008: 42nd) and Capital Fund Management of Paris in 26th (2008: 41st).
Faring less well: RAB Capital (21st to 42nd) and Toscafund (19th to 39th).
