The US Justice Department is increasing its prosecutions of alleged acts of foreign bribery by US companies, forcing them to take costly steps to defend against scrutiny, reports the WSJ. The crackdown under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, or FCPA, now extends across five continents and penetrates entire industries. Sun Microsystems and Royal Dutch Shell are under Justice Department review, among at least 120 companies under investigation.
