Based on recent prices, just one company, Whitbread, would have exited the FTSE 100, replaced by Wolseley, the building materials group.
However, there are number of companies pushing for automatic promotion – that’s anyone in the FTSE 250 ranked 90 or above.

Which should make this bunch nervous.

That’s right, Yell and the Toxic Pub Company Punch Taverns back in the FTSE 250, which just goes to show how powerful and indiscriminate the dash for trash has been.
For the record, the review is due to take place on Wednesday 10 June, based on the previous session’s closing prices. The changes take after the close of business on Friday June 19.
Before that, of course, there is the MSCI reshuffle to look forward to.
