Hedgie-lit

Normally we don’t look twice at press releases that land in the FT Alphaville inbox when they begin thusly:

Dear {NAME}

But we couldn’t not be intrigued by this one.

Finbar Taggit, city blogger (Finbar.com), cartoonist and top Hedge Fund Director, can now add another string to his bow… novellist [sic.]. When not doing any of the above, he has been acting as ‘consultant’ to novellist Lena Semaan, who’s [sic.] first book, ‘Toxic People’ is currently being serialised on the web chapter by chapter.

The prologue is online now, here. Rather ambitiously it kicks of with a quote from the Great Gatsby. But then it’s back to familiar hedgie-lit HTSI-type item-porn:
Organised by one of the hedge fund industry’s heavy hitters, Raef Savage, BOAT had fast become London’s party of the year for the terminally rich. Chauffeured from London’s better postcodes and borne aloft by pilots from New York, Zurich, Moscow and Connecticut, they were mostly young, in their thirties and forties. They were, however, old enough to have traded up their starter wives for shiny second ones who glittered and glistened and tried to think of clever things to say but needn’t have bothered since nobody expected them to.

et cetera.
