Goldman Sachs has agreed to a $60m settlement to resolve claims by a Massachusetts regulator that it participated in unfair and deceptive lending practices involving subprime mortgages. The settlement did not involve an admission of wrongdoing by the bank. But Martha Coakley, Mass. attorney-general, said Goldman had “played a role” in the “predatory lending” associated with the subprime market. Goldman said it was “pleased to have resolved this matter”.
