GERMAN PROGRAMME TO SCRAP OLD CARS AND BUY NEW ONES A COMPLETE SUCCESS – VDIK

To recap, the German government is offering motorists €2,500 to scrap cars that are at least nine years old, if they buy a new model in exchange.

And the scheme, which runs until the end of the year, has been so popular that the government has agreed to increase it to €5bn from the €1.5bn originally allocated. Governments in the UK, Italy and France have followed suit.
