Reuters reports AIG has taken down the sign on the front of its New York offices. Their reasoning?
According to the Reuters story…
A spokesman said the company had decided to replace the large AIG sign — outside the entrance to its property-casualty offices — as part of its plan to change that operation’s name to AIU Holdings Ltd.
The move is designed to “distinguish these well-capitalized businesses from AIG,” said a second spokesman.
Uh huh.
Media blog Gawker has a slightly more Machiavellian explanation for the insurer’s latest maneuvre.
The company’s corporate security department, it seems, issued the following advice to employees last week.
