The controversy in the US over Merrill Lynch’s reluctance to divulge information about its bonus pool has flared up on the other side of the world – in Hong Kong’s labour tribunal. A tribunal judge on Monday warned the US investment bank, acquired in January by Bank of America, that it would face pressure to reveal bonus payments to 50 Asia-based managing directors. The issue emerged in a tribunal case brought by Jon Pratt, a former Merrill Lynch banker who is contesting the size of his 2008 bonus.
