Credit crunch photos

FT Alphaville is helping to judge a competition for the best photo of the credit crunch.

Citizen-photojournalism site Demotix is hosting the contest. It’s open to anyone: they’re looking for defining, eye-catching and astute photographs that capture the current state of the world’s economy.
The credit crunch has begun to affect the whole world, from factory closures in China to riots on the streets of Latvia. Piles of unsold-cars in ports, boarded-up houses, the effects of dwindling aid – whatever the subject, if it reflects the economic crisis we want to see it.

We here at Alphaville will be compiling the shortlist of the best entries. Which will then be whittled down by a panel of our fellow financial bloggers. When they’ve chosen the winner, we’ll publish it here on the blog. Happy photographing!
