Bernard Madoff, the New York broker accused of perpetrating an alleged $50bn fraud, was on Wednesday placed under home detention with electronic monitoring by a court order. The order, which modified Madoff’s original bail conditions, imposed an overnight curfew on Madoff in his Manhattan apartment and required his wife to surrender her passport. Meanwhile, investigators continued to comb through records at Madoff’s Manhattan offices.
