That TCI/Atticus statement

Oddly, the wires have been relying on their German counterparts for the copy on this one. It seems that notwithstanding a couple of paper copies, the TCI/Atticus release wasn’t made available to the UK English-speaking press.

Ooops.

THE CHILDREN’S INVESTMENT FUND MANAGEMENT AND ATTICUS ANNOUNCE AGREEMENT REGARDING DEUTSCHE BŐERSE AG

September 2, 2008 – Having independently managed separate substantial investments in Deutsche Börse AG since 2004, The Children’s Investment Fund Management (UK) LLP (“TCI”) and Atticus Capital LP, have today reached an agreement to work together for the purposes of exploring all options for shareholder value creation at Deutsche Börse AG. This may include seeking to change some of the members of the Supervisory Board in order to ensure leadership and urgency regarding any appropriate options.

Collectively, Atticus and TCI control approximately 19% of the voting rights of Deutsche Börse AG. The Firms are notifying the relevant German regulatory authorities, including the Federal Supervisory Authority (“BaFin”), accordingly. Subject to certain agreed restrictions, TCI and Atticus reserve the right to increase or decrease their shareholdings in Deutsche Börse AG.

Not exactly much said though.
