Code-name “Badger” - the B&B rescue effort

Bungle Bank, BBB, Bye Bye…the hunt for a disparaging moniker for Bradford & Bingley during its current difficulties is over.

FT Alphaville’s ad hoc competition has been won by….

The Tripartite Authorities.

Working as a team for a change, the FSA, the Bank of England and the Treasury have come up with “Badger” as their code-name as they seek to stabilise B&B’s shambolic re-re-refinancing.

Champagne in the post, etc.

    For Immediate Release

Alastair Darling, Chancellor of the Exchequer, announces that with immediate effect the UK Government’s previous policy on non-culling of Badgers has been reversed.

Any member of the public is authorised to shoot to kill any Badgers spotted roaming the streets, particularly if found within the City of London.

The entire board of Bradford & Bingley are to be treated as “Badgers” for the purposes of this announcement.

    END

Sorry for the typo in prev post.

    It’s = Is

And I think I’ve discovered the new bailout rule. Badger falls into the “it’s not fair, you did it for Crock!” category.

I thought the rules were that regulators bailed out lenders if they were too big or too complex to fail. It’s there another rule that’s been added– like will cause a double digit decline in popularity ratings for the ruling party? Otherwise what category into which does Badger fit?

  16. Jul 04   16:12 Posted by PW [report]

Badger, haha, that is hilarious. Maybe Govt will do a U-Turn on badger cull policy and initiate an immediate extermination program.

Seriously, have the FSA and City gone mad? The reputations of Badger’s advisers (the mighty Goldman Sucks) and all concerned have been shot to pieces by this fiasco - we have become a laughing stock amongst the capitalist nations.

Badger! You’re kidding me - the same morning the BBC news carried on item on the badger cull?

More than a coincidence? Do shareholders carry TB?
