Now be nice, people.
He may not have the snappy prose or the irreverent wit of a seasoned blogger, but then most seasoned bloggers haven’t made billions of dollars (and aren’t constrained by rank upon rank of lawyers). The blogosphere shouldn’t eat its young. And as Felix Salmon lately pointed out, variety is the spice of blogonomic life. If you don’t like it, don’t read it.
The Icahn Report has arrived. Or been unveiled, as Mr Icahn has been at it since June 12.
Some reviews:
Megan Barnett for Portfolio – Hey Icahn, where’s the humour?
We’re not giving up on you yet, Carl. We know you’ve got it in you. Just tell the lawyers who’s boss.
Jack Flack’s Business Spin – Activist Investor, Passive Voice
Jack Flack’s theorizes that BICI likely dictates most of his musings. When spoken, passive constructions can often deliver rhythms that delight the ear. But when converted into writing, they tend to be as puffy and lazy as the corporate bosses Icahn enjoys torturing.
Dealbreaker – “A lot of people die fighting tyranny. The least I can do is vote against it.” —Carl Icahn, 1988
He seems to love using the word “absurdity,” as three of the titles of his posts include the word: “Absurdity of the Corporate Board Elections,” “Absurdity of the Staggered Board,” and finally, “Absurdity of the Poison Pill.” That’s a lot of absurd things in Corporate America.
[AV aside - we're guessing from the collection of links down the right hand side under the title "Absurdities", that this might be, you know, a theme. More absurdities to come.]
Fintag – More bloody competition …
Silicon Valley Insider – Carl Icahn, Angry Blogger!
Posts we haven’t found yet:
- “What Went Wrong At BioGen”
- “What Went Wrong At Yahoo”
- “What Went Wrong At Time Warner”
-”Man Oh Man, Do I Hope Motorola and Blockbuster Pan Out”
Breakout Performance
If Carl Icahn, that thorn in Corporate America’s side, wants to be taken seriously as a blogger, he needs to get his lawyers out of the way….. But there are plenty of legal disclaimers and warnings about what you can or can’t post at Icahnreport.com — not exactly a great conversation starter and a harsh approach for a blog.
Going Private
Unfortunately, there will be a brief delay in service while I dry off my undergarments and descend into the plateaued euphoria of the newly minted Icahn Report.
