Shaquille O’Neal, a giant among basketballers, is working on a plan to help homeowners facing foreclosure in Orlando, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel.
The paper said the NBA legend wants to buy the mortgages of homeowners who have slipped into foreclosure, with an eye on selling the homes back to the buyers on more affordable terms - and making a small profit in the process.
“I want to come in not to kick them out, but to work with them and save them so they can stay in their homes,” O’Neal told the Orlando Sentinel.
O’Neal, who started his NBA career with the Orlando Magic team, is already involved in the real estate game: his investments range from carwashes to stripmalls to gyms.
And according to the report, the Pheonix Suns centre is also considering launching a reality show based on the Orlando development plan, dubbed “Shaq’s Big Save.”
No word yet on whether fellow Magician-turned-Phoenix son Grant Hill will make a cameo appearance.
