Witan Investment Trust, one of the UK’s largest and oldest investment trusts, is switching £150m away from the Henderson fund management group as it revamps its investment strategy. The trust will allocate £75m to Artemis Investment Management; a further £75m will go to Marathon Asset Management, and £30m to Paris-based Varenne as part of the trust’s European mandate. The move is a deliberate nod to the boutique style of investment management, where fund managers often own stakes in their companies.
