Nufarm, the Australian farm chemicals group, said Monday it had ended talks on a potential A$3bn ($2.6bn) bid from a group including China National Chemical (ChemChina) after the consortium was unable to come up with a formal offer. ChemChina and two US private equity firms, Blackstone and Fox Paine Management, were given exclusive access to Nufarm’s books last month after approaching the company with a plan to create the world’s largest generic crop protection company. However, Nufarm said Monday it had been advised the consortium would not be able to formalise its offer by midnight Monday, when the exclusivity period expires.
