Eden found! Banks analyst arrives at new job

Call off the search. James Eden, the high-profile banking analyst who departed Dresdner Kleinwort earlier this year, has arrived at his new place of work.

How long he stays there is another matter.  Eden, who is known for penning songs in his research notes, went missing in July after he showed up at a new job at Société Générale, only to depart again within hours. His right hand man at DK, Ian Gordon, “didn’t actually arrive at all, which is a shame because he seemed to be a very jolly chap,” one somewhat bemused potential colleague at SocGen told us.

His new place of work, Exane, part of BNP Paribas, at least feels confident enough to issue a press release on Eden’s arrival.  They have apparently already done better than SocGen, in hanging onto Gordon, who arrived a “few weeks ago.”

We note that Eden, who studied Economics at Cambridge, has spent his whole career at German banks, passing through Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank and DK, before deciding to spread his European wings.

The French banks got off to a patchy start – but we hope the cross-border culture shift goes more smoothly from hereon in.
