Barclays Capital debt executive quits

A senior executive in charge of a structured finance team at Barclays Capital resigned this week in the midst of global credit market turmoil and after the collapse of two structured investment vehicles created by his team. Edward Cahill, a banker who ran the collateralised debt obligation division, left on Monday after returning from holiday. His resignation may promote scrutiny at a time when several structures arranged by Barclays Capital appear to have run into problems due to losses on subprime assets.
