Water, water everywhere…

Yes - FT Alphaville is a victim of global warming. Our data centre has been caught up in the floods  affecting middle England. The post below was a touch premature (we were unable earlier to publish fresh content - though you, dear reader, could see the site), but we appear to be back in, functioning at somewhat below full capacity.

Bear with us - and we’ll try to get going on this busy morning for news, albeit it a little belatedly.

And please accept our apologies but as a result of the technical snafu, Markets Live at 11am will be somewhat curtailed today. And Paul Murphy has been dispatched to Gloucestershire, bucket in hand, so Helen Thomas will be standing in, alongside regular Neil Hume.

To all the fans out there, those crazed devotees of Messieurs Murphy and Hume, the dynamic duo will return tomorrow.
