Bancrofts to vote Monday on Dow Jones deal

The Bancroft family, which controls Dow Jones voting shares, is set to meet Monday for a final vote on the $5bn bid by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp for the company, publisher of the Wall Street Journal, reports the Journal. The FT reports that the fractious Bancroft family remains pivotal to Mr Murdoch’s quest for Dow Jones three months after he made his $60 a share offer. Dow Jones board of directors met Tuesday night to consider the offer, which represents a 65 per cent premium. The meeting follows a tentative sale agreement reached Monday by News Corp and a special committee of Dow Jones directors. Separately, the FT examines the background of the Bancroft family.
