Wall Street II - Gekko comes to London

The search for Gordon Gekko’s next adventure has come to London.

Douglas as GekkoFT Alphaville hears that the team behind the sequel to the 1987 classic Wall Street, starring Michael Douglas as the corrupt money-man Gekko, has sent new script-writer Stephen Schiff to the UK on a fact-finding mission to pin down the current state of the investment and financial world - and perhaps seek inspiration for new colourful characters to appear in the film.

Could Gekko, played again by Douglas, be reprised as a Mayfair hedge fund manager? Who will cross his path? And in today’s global money markets, where will his escapades take him?

Edward Pressman, who produced the original film and is behind the sequel, has only revealed that the Wall Street follow-up will be dubbed “Money Never Sleeps” after one of Gekko’s guiding principles in the first film.

Wall StreetSo what then is on Mr Schiff’s itinerary? Here at Alphaville we understand that Mr Schiff has flown into London from Dubai to sound out the UK’s financial bigwigs. A middle-eastern plot connection perhaps?

One environmentally-friendly tycoon, with a past in property and who is thought to have been approached, may be able to help Mr Schiff with that.

For those of you not lucky enough to be invited to a wire-tapped meeting in a central London park by the producers, post your stories, or story-lines, below or email us at alphaville@ft.com.

We’re sure that 20th Century Fox would love to hear your torrid tales.
