Manchester City distanced itself from Ray Ranson, the former player who wants to buy the Premier League club, saying his proposals contained “material” problems. The board issued its second statement in two days, having already announced on Tuesday that it was in talks with interested parties. Mr Ranson, who is said to be putting together a bid in the region of £90m, responded to the initial board statement by going public on his approach and saying he had yet to hear a positive response. However, on Wednesday the board said Mr Ranson’s indicative proposals have contained conditions that the board “do not believe can be fulfilled”.
