Greenhill takes open approach to bonuses

It calls for an Oscar-worthy performance. BankersBall reports that Greenhill prefers to dispense with the cloak and dagger secrecy and Chinese whispers that generally surround bonus time.

The boutique investment bank instead gathers all MDs in one room and every senior director then gets to see what each of his peers will be taking home.

The idea is that all the time senior staff would otherwise spend in covert conversations trying to ascertain what others got paid will instead be put to use for the benefit of the bank.

So if you see Greenhill MDs practising their “surprised but happy” face and their “not top end but I’m big enough to take it” face in the mirror, you’ll know why.
